Are Banks Calling You At Work?
If you are behind on your bills there is no doubt the creditors are calling your work.
Here is the law
A debt collector may not communicate with a consumer in connection with the collection of any debt at the consumer’s place of employment if the debt collector knows or has reason to know that the consumer’s employer prohibits the consumer from receiving such communication.
So if a debt collector is calling you at work.
Do not engage in conversation with them. Simply tell them to hold while you turn your recorder on, count 1-1,000, 2-1,000, 3-1,000 and then go back and explain you are now recording the call (whether you are or not) ask for their name, their company’s name, the company’s address. Write it down.
Then simply state “I am not allowed to receive these calls at work” and that you appreciate them following the law and not calling you.
